What is BoxingEdu?

Just Boxing Foundation established the BoxingEdu Scholarship in 2021 to support boxers pursuing higher education through a public college or university within California.

Who can apply for the BoxingEdu Scholarship?

BoxingEdu is intended to aid boxers who are actively pursuing higher education through a public college or university in the state of California. Please review the Scholarship Guidelines for more details on eligibility.

Question 1

What's the application deadline?

Scholarship applications for 2022 will be accepted until Thursday, September 15th at 11:59PM PST.

Question 2

What's the scholarship essay, and do I need to submit one?

The Scholarship Essay is an essay of 500 - 1,000 words related to the topic specified within the Scholarship Application. All BoxingEdu applicants must include a Scholarship Essay with their submission in order for their application to be reviewed.

Question 3

What's the scholarship award amount?

Each recipient of the BoxingEdu Scholarship will receive $1,200.00 (USD) for expenses related to education, and/or boxing training and competition.

Question 4

How much boxing experience do I need to apply for BoxingEdu?

Applicants must have experience in the field of boxing in one of the following ways:

  • An amateur boxer with competition experience in one or more sanctioned bouts

  • A professional boxer with competition experience in one or more sanctioned bouts

  • A student who has earned credit for completing a boxing course at a college or university

  • A student who is actively enrolled in a boxing course at a college or university

  • A student who is actively a member of a boxing club program at a college or university

Question 6

What is the supporting documentation?

Scholarship applicants may be asked to provide additional documentation to support their eligibility. Examples of supporting documentation include, but are not limited to:

​

  • USA Boxing Membership Card

  • BoxRec ID #

  • Unofficial transcript

Where do I submit my application and supporting documentation?

What type of expenses are covered by the scholarship?

Examples of qualifying expenses include, but are not limited to:
 

  • Tuition and fees

  • Books and supplies

  • Living costs

  • Computers and software

  • Boxing equipment

  • Boxing gym dues

  • Boxing training fees

  • Competition travel and expenses

Question 9

How are scholarship recipients chosen?

Just Boxing Foundation has assembled a Scholarship Selection Committee. The committee is responsible for thoroughly reviewing all applications and essays, and ensuring that applicants meet our Scholarship Guidelines. Committee members will vote to award Scholarships based on the Guidelines. Just Boxing Foundation's Board of Directors will provide final approval of all Scholarships.

Question 10

When will the scholarship recipients be announced?

2022 BoxingEdu Scholarship recipients will be notified no later than October 15, 2022.

Question 11

Can I donate to Just Boxing Foundation?

Of course! Just Boxing Foundation, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). We accept donations through PayPal and through the Just Boxing Foundation Facebook page.
