Early this morning, Just Boxing Foundation confirmed the winner of the 2022 BoxingEdu Scholarship via social media. After careful review of all applicants, a Scholarship Selection Committee awarded this year's scholarship to George "El Yuyu" Acosta. George is a part time student and active professional boxer fighting under Thompson Boxing Promotions. George entered the professional ranks in 2017, and has already piloted an accomplished career consisting of 13 victories and a WBA Fedecentro Title.
Along with studying and training, George also dedicates himself to educating others. Most notably he runs the growing El Yuyu YouTube channel, which focus on boxing, nutrition, and exercise. As an active boxer, George explores the ins and outs of boxing with an insight that's unique among content creators.
However busy, the pursuit of learning remains a priority for George. In fact, he stressed the importance of continuous growth in an essay, which read:
"Boxing has taught me many life lessons, the three most important ones being to develop discipline, have respect, and always keep learning."
As a recipients of the 2022 BoxingEdu Scholarship, George receives a $1,200 (USD) award for expenses related to education, and/or boxing training and competition.
