A typical California Halloween is marked by elaborate costumes and bountiful candy. But the women of Babyface Boxing had a different treat in mind as they handed out a dose of the sweet science. This past weekend, the Pacifica-based boxing club hosted their 10th annual women’s amateur boxing tournament – Beautiful Brawlers X. The 2-day tournament featured 75 all-female fights on one show. A staple of women’s boxing for the last 20 years, Beautiful Brawlers shared the following on their Facebook page:
"Not only are we making history but we are going to have an incredible event including 5 members of Team USA, 17 number 1 ranked boxers in the nation, and a team from Mexico. It's not only an honor to host this but it's our passion.”
This historical event for women’s boxing garnered support and sponsorship from various organizations and fighters, including Just Boxing Foundation, WBC Cares, and WBO World Champion Seniesa Estrada, among others.
Just Boxing Foundation board member Shenandoah Brettell commented on the Foundation's sponsorship calling it an honor:
“When we got the opportunity to sponsor [Beautiful Brawlers] we didn't hesitate at all." said Shenandoah. "We're honored just to be involved, and to support women in boxing as part of our ongoing mission."
